In Alberta, irrigating crop land relies on many differing types of irrigation methods, from gravity to high-pressure or low-pressure sprinkler systems and micro-drip or micro-spray systems. Most of these systems provide the adaptability to deliver precise amounts of irrigation water tailored to the specific needs of each crop and require energy to run.
We recognize that crop farmers have a unique consumption profile, and we have an innovative plan for those farmers utilizing Solar to energize their irrigation systems. How does the Solar-Powered Irrigation Rate plan work?

During the months of May 1st through September 30th when solar irrigation consumption is typically at its highest your rate is locked in at the ACE Fixed rate of $0.0895 +EMR (8.95 cents +EMR), providing price certainty.

October 1st through April 30th you’ll enjoy the province’s leading small-scale micro-gen rate of $0.3000 +EMR (30.00 cents +EMR) when your consumption is typically lower, using the power you generate to offset a portion of your own electricity consumption and receiving compensation (as a credit, offsetting your electricity bill) for any excess energy exported to the grid through ACE.

Once you’ve signed up, you don’t have to do anything! We will ensure your rates are switched automatically and you’ll have peace of mind knowing that you’re getting the province’s leading small-scale micro-gen rate of $0.3000 +EMR for the months of October 1st through April 30th when consumption tends to be lower, and the ACE Fixed rate of $0.0895 +EMR during the months of May 1st through September 30th when usage tends to be higher.
